Weight Loss Cruises are a popular item for anyone looking for fitness, health, romance, and travel. Lose weight and have fun at the same time. Sounds good to me! Cruise ships are no longer just about eating and lying in the sun, and fitness buffs, yogis and health-conscious travelers are swarming on board in droves with active options both off and onboard.

Each of Royal Caribbean’s Freedom, Liberty and Independence of the Seas cruise ships have 10,000-square-foot fitness centers. In addition to weight-training, circuit-training, and state-of-the-art cardio machines, the ShipShape Center features six reformer machines, spinning cycles, a full-size boxing ring, complete with jump ropes, heavy bags, speed bags, and padded punching mitts, and a Pilates studio.

All the cardio machines have personal LED screens to keep your entertained while working out. Group classes offer yoga, Pilates, step aerobics, stretching, Tai Chi, indoor cycling, and boot camp. Other cutting-edge workout equipment onboard includes strength training machines and Power-Plate, and a series of Cable Motion devices that use advanced reflex technology.

weight loss cruisesThe largest cruise ship in the world, the Oasis of the Seas, is in a league of its own. Besides the usual fitness equipment, it has a Kinesis Wall (a circuit exercise using a system of pulleys), 12 Gravity machines that provide body conditioning through resistance training and pilates, Expresso Bikes (with 30, virtual, interactive rides) and Activio Cycling that furnishes heart rate feedback. Classes unique to Oasis include a combo jogging and cycling class, BrickKinesis group training, and a jogging club.

Seabourn Odyssey was the first new luxury ship cristened since staying fit became a mantra for healthy living. Designers incorporated a more contemporary awareness into the creation of its two-deck high fitness center and spa. Its most unique feature is the Kinesis wall, which can accommodate four passengers at once. Kinesis is a technology that uses a series of cables and pulleys to provide rehabilitation if necessary, increase flexibility, and create better muscle definition, while being gentler on the body than conventional machines. Private Kinesis coaching is available in higher-level suites.

Odyssey’s weight loss cruise fitness facility includes additional state-of-the-art strength, weight training, and cardio eqipment, and other classes (from yoga to stretching, all complimentary). And if you need to revive tired limbs after a good workout, make for the gorgeous thermal suite/hydro pool area with aromatherapy sauna, heated loungers, rain mist showers and waterbed.
